Obtaining Source Code
FreedomBox is free software and you can obtain the source code to study, modify, and distribute improvements.
FreedomBox
You can obtain source code for FreedomBox from its git repository. On FreedomBox/Debian, you can also run the following command on a terminal:
$ apt source freedombox
Debian Packages
You can download the source code for any Debian package from the Debian package repository or browse the source code. On FreedomBox/Debian, you can also run the following command on a terminal:
$ apt source <package_name>
Firmware
Unfortunately, at this time, some of the software associated close to the hardware, known as firmware, is not free software. It can’t be studied, or modified by the end user. No source code for it is available. This includes UEFI/BIOS (the software that boots the computer), and CPU microcode (typical for AMD/Intel processors).
