When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Your email address may be anonymized (creating a hash) and shared with the Gravatar service to verify if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

Processing payments

For the payment methods “Direct bank Transfer” and “Check payments” we don’t use any third party payment services other than our bank. For all other payment methods, we use Stripe for processing payments.

Stripe will collect and store data about your payment including your name, email, billing address, card details, etc. to ensure that the transactions are authentic, to process refunds, to comply with the law, and to satisfy their obligations as payment processor. Please see Stripe’s Privacy Policy to understand what data they store and how they process it.

We do not store your card information.

Sales Tax/GST/VAT

Sales tax is determined based on your delivery address. There are tens of thousands of sales tax jurisdictions in the United States and worldwide. The tax rates for these may change as often as each quarter and complex rules are involved in its calculation.

To help comply with your local laws regarding sales tax, we use a third party service Stripe Tax for calculating, tracking compliance, and filing returns. This data will be retained for at least as long as the tax authorities require it. Please see Stripe’s Privacy Policy to understand what data they store and how they process it.

Shipping

We use a third party such as USPS, UPS, and FedEx to deliver the package to you. We may also use a third party shipping service to calculate the best cost among the providers and automatically track the package. We send them information such as delivery address, package dimensions, package weight, value and class of goods to enable them to perform this service.

Embedded content from other websites

We use embedded content very sparingly or try to have none at all.

Despite our best efforts, pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

  • If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
  • Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
  • Payments are processed using Stripe if you use one their payment methods.
  • Sales tax is calculated by sending your data to Stripe Tax.
  • Shipping information is shared with shipping service providers.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Information required to pay sales taxes and other business taxes are kept at least until the legal minimum period.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
